Research & Development
Oregon Physics is continually researching ion source and optics improvements to increase the performance of our ion beam systems and to apply our technology into new applications. We are currently conducting research on:
Innovative Sources for SIMS
The higher brightness, lower energy spread and much longer lifetime of our plasma ion source, compared to the conventional Duoplasmatron oxygen source, makes this technology extremely attractive for Dynamic and Static SIMS applications. We are now collaborating with a number of SIMS instrument vendors worldwide as well as individual SIMS users to incorporate our ion source into their systems.
Nanoscale FIB Milling
We are conducting research to increase the performance of the plasma ion source FIB for producing nanoscale probes with the goal of matching the performance of the Gallium LMI Source with inert ions.
Ion Sources for Accelerator Applications
The high brightness, long lifetime, and low axial energy spread makes the Hyperion ion source ideal for accelerator microprobe applications that focus high voltage ion beams with multipole lenses.
